Wat Tham Ta Pan

A really strange Temple...

Wat Tham Ta Pan is a small temple located in the city of Phang Nga. It is indeed a special place because it exposes the most terrible and bloody visions of the Buddhist hell... At the back of the temple, after a walk inside the dragon, you will find a path that crosses a cave and that will lead you to heaven, you will have to cross three bridges to reach it.

Wat Tham Ta Pan looks a bit old and needs some maintenance, but it is really unique.

When you enter the "courtyard" of the temple, these statues of monks sitting in a circle are the only statues appearing welcoming, in this place it is not yet hell.
The attraction starts here: enter a dragon's mouth and walk down a fifty-metre long corridor into the middle of a wild jungle without maintenance, with sculptures that are each more surprising than the last.
As you advance down this long corridor, you step into the dragon's body to reach... hell!

  The Cave

A la sortie du tunnel dragonien... vous avez accès à une grande grotte complètement à l'abandon. Le seul intérêt serait le fait qu'on y trouve une fraîcheur qui est agréable...

 Rather ominous sculptures...

Here are a lot of these really surprising and frightening sculptures, a vision of hell... that doesn't really appeal to me.

I won't see much point in bringing children to see all these impressive scenes of torture. There are so many beauties to be discovered elsewhere and not far away...

The monk isolated in the middle of hell...

At the exit of the tunnel, after having visited the cave and just before being in the middle of all these bloody statues, a monk is sitting there... and offers you a string to put around your wrist...
